      Disposition:

Confident: There’s a reason Ferdinand’s personal skill is based on his overwhelming confidence. In all things he does Ferdinand is bold and self assured; or at least has convinced himself that he is. Ferdinand is so sure of himself he is willing to charge into danger and throw himself into any challenge in front of him. When he IS defeated or someone else is shown to be better he pulls himself to his feet and works hard to beat them later. He’s so sure that with enough honest effort and hard work he can never be truly defeated that it’s a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy. This folds into him being:

Optimistic: Even someone like Hubert ends up admitting that Ferdinand has incredible optimism. He is always looking forward to the future, believing that the world he is working towards (no matter what route he’s on) will bring peace and happiness to the people of Fodlan. Like with his confidence, Ferdinand refuses to be broken down even by the most bitter of souls, always trying to talk others up and give others hope. Even when something does get him down it is only for a short while. Some might call it denial, and they might not be wrong. After all, things in Fodlan are so bad it can be hard to see the bright side without being outright delusional. But some how Ferdinand still manages.

Noble: With Fodlan’s strict and often cruel classiest system, being called ‘noble’ may seem like an insult. The nobility of Fodlan are largely useless at best or outright villainous at worst. But Ferdinand sees the position of the nobility not as a divine right to lord over others, but as a duty and burden that must be upheld. To be Noble has nothing to do with one’s birth, but with a desire and drive to better the country and the lives of those that depend on you. This is why Ferdinand often uses it as a compliment. Not only for himself (though he DOES love to refer to himself as noble) but also to others. Even those with no connection to nobility. What makes one noble is their actions, not their birth or power. Ferdinand holds himself to the highest ideals, and thinks others should do the same. It is why ‘Nobles who are not noble’ is listed under his dislikes, after all.

Overbearing: His confidence and noble ideals are all well and good in a bubble, but Ferdinand tends to try and push his beliefs on others without thinking. He is loud, obnoxious and pushy, and more than one person has outright ran away from him to avoid his company. He ‘knows’ he is right and due to his self confidence he often decides that others just need to be ‘convinced’ of his views and just like with his self improvement he thinks if he just tries harder he will win out eventually. He doesn’t INTEND to be pushy and rude, because he thinks the other person will be happier if they do what he says, but he IS still very annoying. He’s improved as he’s aged, and now can tell, eventually, when he’s upset or annoyed someone and works hard to make it up to them. But it still takes longer than it should due to him being so-

Dense: Ferdinand can be very self absorbed, and because of this he can miss social and emotional cues and say or do things that are rude, cruel or just outright stupid. He doesn’t think through what he says or does, and does things based on his ideals and gut without thinking of the larger picture. Because of this he can come off as egomanical and idiotic. He DOES try though, and can see his own flaws when they are pointed out and works to fix his behavior and make reparations. But the more worked up he becomes the more likely he is to say or do something that will get him in trouble.

Suitability: Starting out Ferdinand will be a bit overwhelmed- all this emotional closeness goes against what he learned growing up, so compared to the Gems he might seem a bit prudish. But being a very honest person he will adapt to it quickly and actually enjoy the closeness. The more modern setting will throw him off quite a bit due to his only experience with higher tech being VERY negative. Becoming a beast will terrify him the first time, especially if his mind is heavily altered, but overtime he will probably end up enjoying the chance to shed his noble bearing and just let loose a little.

Ferdinand will be very quick to decide it’s his duty to help the people here- and in fact will be interested in getting involved in the government once he’s had time to settle in. It’s important that the gembound have representation after all!

Condition upon arrival: Healthy, though a little stressed and exhausted from over working.

      Abilities:

Crest: Ferdinand has a minor Crest of Cichol, said to be a symbol of strength and the land. In game terms it prevents counterattacks when using a combat art- in rp it improves strength and stamina, allowing one to overwhelm foes in short bursts. It also allows him to use the relics that share his crest, and when wielding them he regains hp over time.

Solider: Ferdinand has trained in combat most of his life. He specializes in lances and horseback, with a hidden talent in heavy armor- but he has no outright weaknesses. Because of this he can use most medieval weapons, ride various mounts, and even use some limited magic (listed below) though he is far from a skilled mage. He is physically strong, but all within human standards excluding his crest.

Spells Known: Fire, Thunder, Thoron, Bolganone (elemental attack spells), Heal (small health restore), Nosferatu (attack spell that heals half the damage caused to the caster), Ward (Gives the person it’s used on a resistance to magic that degrades over time), and Restore ( heals negative status effects).

Noble: Since he was raised in nobility, Ferdinand is highly educated (for his fantasy time period) and has experience in land governance, funds management and piles of paperwork. He also knows how to navigate polite society and rub elbows with fancy types. And brew amazing tea.

Inventory: The two relics associated with his crest (the Spear of Assal and the Ochain Shield), a fancy equestrian outfit, trade documents
